SLU (6-0-1), ranked #3, played to a 4-4 double overtime tie with visiting Western Illinois University (5-2-1) in a non conference match at Robert R. Hermann Stadium before a crowd of 1,667 in St. Louis. The Billikens trailed early in the first half but were able to take the lead on goals by freshman forward Vedad Ibisevic (9) and freshman midfielder John DiRaimondo (8) until a late penalty kick awarded to the Leathernecks resulted in a 2-2 halftime score. WIU scored twice in the second half but freshman midfielder Will John (13) got SLU back into the match with two second half goals. The score remained tied after two overtime periods. Junior goalkeeper Martin Hutton (1) had 7 saves for the Billikens.


SLU freshman midfielder Will John (13) kept the Billikens in the match with an assist and 2 second-half goals.


Billikens freshman forward Vedad Ibisevic (9) scored a goal during the first half.

Billikens freshman midfielder John DiRaimondo (8) appears content after giving SLU a 2-1 advantage in the first half. DiRaimondo also had an assist on Ibisevic's earlier goal.

SLU junior goalkeeper Martin Hutton (1) was busy during the game, making 7 saves but allowing 4 goals, including this penalty kick by WIU forward Justin Langan (10).
