University of Washington at St. Louis University 30 November 2003

In their 11th overtime game of the season, 4th-ranked and 7th-seeded SLU (15-3-3) defeated #13 and 10th-seeded University of Washington (13-5-2) 3-2 at Robert R. Hermann Stadium before a vocal crowd of 2,171 on a warm late fall afternoon. The Huskies presented the Billikens with one of their toughest challenges of the season. Freshman forward Vedad Ibisevic scored in the first period (14th minute) to put SLU in the lead. With the score tied at 1-1 after a goal by Washington midfielder Troy Ready, SLU sophomore midfielder Cooper McKee put in a shot to give SLU a 2-1 advantage in the 36th minute of play. The Huskies midfielder Troy Ready tied the game in the second period and the game went to overtime. Ibisevic scored the winning goal at 6:55 in overtime (97th minute overall). SLU had 16 shots (8 shots-on-goal) as compared with 17 shots (12 shot-on-goal) by Washington. Billikens junior goalkeeper Martin Hutton made 9 saves.

The Billikens advance to the quarterfinals against host University of Maryland (17-2-1) next weekend.


SLU freshman forward Vedad Ibisevic (9) scored 2 goals (his only 2 shots-on-goal) in the victory over the Washington Huskies. Ibisevic scored early in the first period and then again with the game-winner in overtime.

Billikens sophomore midfielder Cooper McKee (21) put the team ahead in the first period with this run resulting in a goal (his only shot-on-goal).
