Drake University at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale 20 January 2000
SIUC (5-11) lost a tough game in OT to visiting Drake University (10-4) before 172 fans in the SIU arena. The Salukis held a slim one-point lead at half-time (26-25), which led to a close game down to the second half buzzer. Missed opportunities characterized much of the game with neither team able to pull away. Trailing by one point with 5 seconds on the game clock, freshman guard Molly McDowell (11) hit a 3-pt basket to bring SIU within 1 point. A quick Bulldog turnover followed by a foul placed the game in McDowell's hands. But McDowell hit 1 of 2 free throws to tie the game and send it into OT. Better shooting by Drake and a cold Saluki offense led to a disappointing 64-73 home OT loss.

SIU's junior guard Courtney Smith (14) contributed 13 points, while dishing out 7 assists and collecting 4 rebounds and 2 steals. SIU senior center Melaniece Bardley (34) looks on for a possible rebound (Bardley had 10 for the game).

Saluki junior guard Terica Hathaway (22) shared game-high scoring honors with McDowell by pumping in 14 points, many over Drake's sophomore forward Erin Richards (34).

Bulldog junior forward Kristin Santa (11) managed 11 points and 3 assists.

Saluki freshman Molly McDowell (11) scores over Drake's sophomore guard Stephanie Schmitz (20) while Drake senior center Haley Sames (44) checks for a rebound. McDowell had 14 points and 4 assists for the game.

Sames contributed 9 points and a game-high 15 rebounds.

Bulldog Stephanie Schmitz (20) led all scorers with 17 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists before fouling out late in the second half.

Saluki junior Kristine Abramowski (55) looks to assist. Abramowski added 11 points and 6 rebounds.

A late 3-pt basket by Drake's sophomore forward Erin Richards (34) seemed to give the Bulldogs the game, but SIU battled back to send the contest into OT. Richards finished with 11 points, 3 assists and 4 rebounds.
