Drake University at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale 26 January 2000
SIUC (11-8) won an easy game against visiting Drake University (9-8) before 4,068 fans in the SIU arena. The Saluki took an early lead and built a 37-21 half time advantage behind the shooting of Abel Schrader and Ricky Collum. The Bulldogs were out-played by the Salukis in the second half, which allowed many of the bench players to see valuable game time. Scoring honors went to Saluki freshman guard Kent Williams (13 points), rebound honors to Joshua Cross (9 boards), and assists honors to Brandon Mells (6). In all, SIU dominated Drake by the final score of 76-48.


SIU junior forward Joshua Cross (12) rounded out his strong rebounding effort (9 boards) with 9 points.


Saluki junior guard-forward Abel Schrader (45) lays in an easy basket against Bulldog Dontay Harris (5). Schader contributed 11 points and 4 rebounds, while Harris scored 10 points and collected 7 boards in a losing effort.

SIU senior forward Chris Thunell (32) drives past Drake's Lamont Evans (32) on his way to an easy basket. Thunell finished with 10 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists.

Bulldog senior forward Aaron Deeter (34) co-led Drake's offense with 10 points and collected 6 rebounds. Saluki Jermaine Dearman (23) attempts to block the shot, while SIU's Brandon Mells (3) and Drake's senior Lamont Evans (32) look on. Dearman contributed 9 points and 4 rebounds, Mells added 3 points and 6 assists, and Evans posted 9 points and 4 assists.

SIU senior guard Ricky Collum (5) scored 9 points, collected 3 rebounds and dished out 4 assists in the home victory.
