Saint Louis University Billikens (13-9, 4-4) won their second straight game while ending the Duquesne University Dukes (14-7, 5-3) two-game winning streak with a 78-74 overtime victory at the Chaifetz Arena (reported attendance = 7,550, still no sellout in the new venue). This was probably the best game of the year in terms of shooting and defense by both teams. The Billikens were led by senior guards Kevin Lisch (21 pts, 4 rebounds) and Tommie Liddell, III (13 pts, 7 rebounds, 6 assists), freshman center Willie Reed (12 points, 5 rebounds), senior forward Barry Eberhardt (10 points, 4 rebounds) and freshman guard Kwamain Mitchell (10 pts, 4 rebounds). The Dukes were led by senior guard Aaron Jackson (29 points, 6 rebounds), sophomore forward Damian Saunders (14 points, 10 rebounds, 6 blocked shots), sophomore forward Bill Clark (13 points, 5 rebounds), freshman guard Eric Evans (9 points, 3 assists), and junior guard Jason Duty (9 points). Saint Louis shot 45% from the field (41% from 3-pt range) and 66% (19-29) from the charity line. DU shot 46% from the field (26% from 3-pt range) and 79% (15-19) from the charity line. The Billikens had 38 rebounds (9O, 29D), 11 assists, 5 steals, 1 blocked shot, and 12 turnovers as compared with 33 rebounds (5O, 28D), 8 assists, 8 steals, 7 blocked shots, and 13 turnovers by the Dukes.

SLU senior guard Kevin Lisch (21) went up against Duquesne senior guard Aaron Jackson (1) all night. Lisch led SLU scorers with 21 points to go with 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 turnover, and 2 steals. Jackson led all scorers with 29 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 turnovers, and 3 steals.
