University of Rhode Island at St. Louis University 17 January 2008
SLU Billikens (10-7, 1-2) played their second straight ranked team but this time came away with a hard fought 68-61 victory over #21 University of Rhode Island Rams (15-3, 1-2) at the Scottrade Center (reported attendance, 8251). The Billikens shot well against the Rams, while the Rams failed to capitalize on many second chances (URI held a clear offensive rebound advantage). Based on their play and an examination of their schedule, it seems difficult to justify the ranking this early in the season. The Billikens were led by junior guard Tommie Liddell, III (22 pts, 6 rebounds), freshman guard Paul Eckerle (13 pts), and senior forward Luke Meyer (12 pts, 5 rebounds, 3 assists). Saint Louis shot 55% from the field (47% from 3-pt range) and 67% (12-18) from the charity line. The Rams were led by senior forward Will Daniels (12 pts), senior guard Parfait Bitee (11 pts), sophomore forward Lamonte Ulmer (11 pts, 10 rebounds), junior guard Jimmy Baron (10 pts), and junior forward Kahiem Seawright (8 pts, 9 rebounds). Rhode Island shot 34% from the field (31% from 3-pt range) and 63% (10-16) from the charity line. The Billikens had 36 rebounds (4O, 32D), 14 assists, 3 steals, 1 blocked shot, and 18 turnovers as compared with 39 rebounds (18O, 21D), 6 assists, 11 steals, 2 blocked shots, and 12 turnovers by the Rams.

Billiken sophomore forward Adam Knollmeyer (43) battles for a rebound with junior guard Tommie Liddell, III (25) and against Rams sophomore forward Lamonte Ulmer (15) during his 15 minutes of action. Knollmeyer finished with 6 points and 5 rebounds. Liddell scored a game-high 22 points to go with 6 rebounds and 4 turnovers. Ulmer scored 11 points and collected 10 rebounds. SLU junior guard Kevin Lisch (21) gets tied up by URI junior forward Kahiem Seawright (33) and senior guard Parfait Bitee (14). Lisch scored 5 points to go with 4 rebounds. Seawright finished with 8 points, 9 rebounds and 2 blocked shots while Bitee had 11 points and 4 rebounds. Rams junior guard Jimmy Baron (20 drives on Billikens forward Luke Meyer (32) and freshman guard Paul Eckerle (10). Baron scored 10 points (6 points below his average) and collected 2 rebounds. Meyer finished with 12 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal, and 4 turnovers. Eckerle scored a career high 13 points during 30 minutes of play. SLU senior guard Danny Brown (1) catches URI junior guard Jimmy Baron on the floor. Brown scored 8 points and collected 3 assists.

SLU senior forward Luke Meyer (32) and URI sophomore forward Lamonte Ulmer (15) battle for rebound position. Rams senior forward Will Daniels (25) was held to 12 points (7 points below his average) and 4 rebounds before fouling out of the game. Freshman guard Paul Eckerle (10) uses senior center Bryce Husak (44) to drive against URI freshman guard Marquis Jones (5). Husak scored 2 points and collected 8 rebounds.
