SLU (16-12, 7-6) began their last weekend of regular season play with a 70-66 win over the University of Louisville (14-12, 5-8) at the Bauman-Eberhardt Center before a nice-sized crowd (reported attendance, 909). The Billikens were led by senior guard Harmonie King (22) and junior guard Jana Haywood (24) with 17 and 11 points, respectively. SLU shot 44% from the field, 50% from 3-point range and 71% from the charity line. The Billikens had 16 assists, 34 rebounds, 15 turnovers, 3 blocked shots and 7 steals. The Cardinals were led by senior center Lori Nero (44) with 23 points and 10 rebounds. Louisville shot 43% from the field, 24% from 3-point range and 63% from the free-throw line. The Cardinals had 14 assists, 37 rebounds, 16 turnovers, 7 blocked shots and 9 steals. The Billikens trailed by 7 points early in the first half but were able to tie the game at 29-29 at halftime. SLU led by 17 points at the 8:08 mark but Louisville got as close as 1 point with :20 on the clock.


SLU senior forward LaKia Jones (30) battles Louisville senior center Lori Nero (44) for a rebound. Nero finished with a game-high 23 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists and 5 blocked shots.


Billikens senior guard Harmonie King (22) hits for two of her team-high 17 points. King also had 6 assists and 4 rebounds.


Billikens junior guard Jana Haywood (24) scored 11 points to go with 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 blocked shot and 1 steal.


SLU junior forward Angie Lewis (50) scored 2 of her 9 points with this basket. Lewis finished with 2 rebounds and 1 steal.
