Saint Louis University (6-6) rebounded in the second half to win 71-70 over the University of Washington Huskies (6-6) in the Savvis Center (reported attendance, 11,359). SLU led at the half 34-30 but quickly fell behind by 10 points after a 14-2 second-half run by the Huskies, who were led by Doug Wrenn and Curtis Allen with 17 points each. SLU sophomore forward Ross Varner capped the comeback with a 3-point basket with 12 seconds remaining in the game, giving the Billikens their final margin of victory. Varner finished with 12 points, 3 assists, and 1 rebound. The Billikens trailed by as many as 13 points with 8 minutes remaining in the game.


Junior guard Marque Perry (5) led the Billikens (and all scorers) with 20 points. He also had 4 assists and 2 rebounds. Sophomore guard Curtis Allen (20) scored 17 points for the Huskies.


SLU junior forward Chris Braun (52) scored 10 points, while contributing 2 assists and 3 rebounds.

Billikens sophomore guard Jason Edwin (44) scored 10 points to go with a career high 7 rebounds. Washington sophomore guard Doug Wrenn (24) contributed 17 points and 8 rebounds in the Huskie defeat.

Billikens junior center Kenny Brown (41) contributed 4 points and 7 rebounds in the victory. He went against the taller Huskie senior center David Dixon (50), who collected 8 rebounds and scored only 3 points.
