University of North Carolina-Charlotte at St. Louis University 9 February 2002
Saint Louis University (11-13, 5-6) continues to strike gold with a convincing 73-54 win over UNC-Charlotte (14-8, 8-3) in the Savvis Center (reported attendance, 9,942). Marque Perry scored the first 7 points for the Billikens before Drew Diener took over with 3-point shooting. Diener scored 17 points to help the Billikens take a comfortable 35-25 halftime lead. The 49ers could not get on track, even more so after Coach Bobby Lutz received two quick technical fouls and was sent to the dressing room early in the second half. Although the 49ers outrebounded the Billikens, 35 (14 offensive) to 27 (5 offensive), poor shooting from the field and the free-throw line kept them on the losing end.

The Billikens were led by junior guard Drew Diener (21) who had a career-high 22 points including 18 points from 3-point range (6 for 7 from the outside).

SLU junior guard Marque Perry (5) grabs this rebound in front of junior center Kenny Brown (41). Perry scored 18 points, collected 5 rebounds, and contributed 3 assists. Brown finished with no points but collected 6 rebounds.

Billikens junior forward Chris Braun (52) added 14 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists.

Charlotte senior forward Cam Stephens (10) scored 13 points and collected 10 rebounds including this easy dunk late in the contest.

Charlotte 49er senior guard Jobey Thomas (31) was held in check by Drew Diener and Marque Perry for most of the game, scoring only 10 points.
