SLU (9-7, 2-1) pulled out a 57-56 victory over 20th ranked Tulane University (14-4, 2-1) in the Bauman-Eberhardt Center (814 attendance). Despite trailing 27-25 at halftime, the Billikens kept the game close and competitive with outside shooting from Kirsti Holloway. SLU took a 57-56 lead into the final minute and survived a last second attempt by the Greenwave. Tulane controlled the boards 37-24 over the shorter Billikens; Gwen Slaughter collected a game-high 13 boards for the Greenwave.


Sophomore guard Kirsti Holloway (33) scored 12 points (4-7 from 3-point range) to keep the Billikens in the contest.


Billikens sophomore forward Angie Lewis (50) played tough against the taller competition, scoring 11 points and collecting 7 rebounds.


Tulane junior center Teana McKiver (31) led all scorers with 22 points.


Billiken sophomore guard Jana Haywood (24) scored 12 points and had 2 assists.
