Saint Louis University (2-4) dropped a nail-biter 69-67 to University of Missouri (8-0) in the Savvis Center (attendance, 20,602). SLU led at the half 35-31, but Mizzou's rebounding edge finally yielded the Tigers an 8-point lead midway through the second half. The Billikens mounted a late drive to narrow the lead. Marque Perry then tied the score 67-67 with a 3-point basket, leaving 4.8 seconds on the clock. Mizzou's Wesley Stokes then hit the game winner at the buzzer.


Junior forward Kareem Rush (21) scored 18 points in the Tiger victory. SLU junior guard Drew Diener (21) scored 9 points while matching up against Rush for much of the game.


Mizzou sophomore center Arthur Johnson (50) scored 14 points and collected a game-high 16 rebounds.

Billikens junior guard Marque Perry (5) scored 20 points and collected 4 rebounds. Tiger senior guard Clarence Gilbert (4) scored 18 points.

Billikens junior center Kenny Brown (41) sits in amazement after sophomore guard Wesley Stokes (2) hit the game-winning basket at the buzzer. Brown finished with 12 points and 9 rebounds for the Billikens.
