SIUC (15-12, 9-7) needed an overtime period to beat visiting Wichita State University (8-17, 3-13) before a less than capacity crowd (3488 reported attendance) in the SIU arena. The Salukis, who had a 9-point lead at the half and led by as many as 14 points in the second half, took the game in overtime 68-62 behind the scoring of Kent Williams and rebounding by Jermaine Dearman.


Shocker junior guard CC McFall (32) scored 17 points and had 4 of the team's 6 steals.


Wichita State junior guard Terrell Benton (15) led the Shockers with 20 points and collected 6 rebounds.

SIU sophomore center Jermaine Dearman (23) battled under the boards, scoring 13 points and collecting 12 rebounds. Dearman connected on 3 of 10 free throws during the game.

Shocker senior forward OJ Robinson (11) scored 8 points and grabbed 6 rebounds.

Saluki senior forward Joshua Cross (12) scored the winning basket in overtime on his way to 14 points and 8 rebounds.

Sophomore guard Kent Williams (33) led the Salukis with 26 points, shooting 6 for 11 from 3-point range.
