SIUC (12-10, 6-5) ended their drought against visiting Southwest Missouri State University (9-12, 5-7) before a vocal crowd (4608 reported attendance) in the SIU arena. The Salukis led by 10 at the half 25-35, lost the lead at the 15:07 mark of the second half, but were able to regroup for a 65-68 victory. SMSU played without their top scorer junior forward Scott Brakebill. The Salukis played tough under the boards and out rebounded the Bears by a 42-28 margin.


Saluki junior forward Tyrese Buie (4) collected 8 rebounds to go along with 7 points.


Bears sophomore forward Charles Gaines (41) struggled to score 8 points and collect 6 rebounds against the Salukis.

Bears junior guard Robert Yanders (11) scored 11 points and collected 4 assists.

Saluki sophomore center Jermaine Dearman (23) scored a career high 20 points and collected 9 rebounds.

SMSU junior forward Daniel Novak (31) led the Bears with 21 points and collected 4 assists along with 4 rebounds. Novak was 4 for 4 from 3-point range.

Sophomore guard Kent Williams (33) scored 18 points and collected 3 assists along with 2 rebounds in the Saluki victory.
